Advocacy is simply about getting information on a given issue to those in charge with making decisions about it. There are times when governments need information to make important changes in their policies. Patients and their families are often times the most important and accurate source for this information. It is empowering when they can influence and make change.

Take these 3 steps to make a difference in your life and the lives of your loved ones.

  • Step 1:

    Review the Report Card

As part of our advocacy efforts we undertook to objectively investigate and evaluate how the publicly funded health care systems are performing. Skin Deep: A Report Card on Access to Dermatological Care and Treatment in Canada 2012 is the result of that effort.

The results are not good. See how your province or territory stacks up.

  • Step 2:

    Email your local Elected Official

Use our easy automated prewritten system to notify your local elected official. Take 3 minutes to send a message. Add your personal story.

If policy makers could understand what it feels like to live with a skin disease, we believe they would make decisions that would positively affect our lives. We have supplied the Report Card

    – the facts. Now you need to supply the human voice.

  • Step 3:

    Share with friends and family

Share the Report Card with friends and family. Encourage them to contact their MPP/MLA /MNA/MHAs.

Your actions will go a long way to improving the quality of life for millions and could even save a life.

The results are not good. See how your province or territory stacks up.

Want to do even more?

We hope to meet with various decision makers in governments across the country. If you’d like to join us, to share your story directly - we need you! Email us if you’d like to get involved and help us in your area. Even the smallest commitment of an hour will help.
